| Recycled Newspaper Bags - handmade in Mumbai |
|
Create a job, improve a life and recycle – the feel good win-win alternative to shopping carry bags!
Handmade in Mumbai (India) by street youth struggling to build a life, these recycled newspaper bags are a wonderful initiative providing employment and self-sufficient opportunities. Saathi’s Recycled Bag Project is a holistic approach to income generation through a daily allowance, as well as providing an environment where they are able to understand and take on responsibilities of running a small business. The bags offered include a range of 3-ply recycled newspaper, brown paper, brown paper with recycled newspaper outer and handmade paper. Bags can be custom made with the option to have a logo screen printed on the bag. All bags have reinforced bottoms, metal grommets and soft rope handle. About Saathi: Since 1997 Saathi has been a registered development agency working primarily with youth living on the streets and runaway adolescent girls who are coping with issues of living on the street. Health, education and social support are addressed as a part of these projects. This project fits with Coris’s values of equitable fair trade and sustainability.
